How to Activate ActiveX in Internet Explorer
Activex is a set of technologies developed by Microsoft that allows for the integration of various types of content, such as animations, interactive multimedia, and web applications, directly into web pages. However, due to security concerns, ActiveX controls are disabled by default in Internet Explorer. If you need to enable ActiveX controls for specific websites, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to activate ActiveX in Internet Explorer.
Step 1: Open Internet Explorer
First, launch Internet Explorer on your computer. If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer, you can access the Tools menu by clicking on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the browser window. For newer versions, you can find the Tools menu by clicking on the three dots in the upper-right corner and selecting “Settings.”
Step 2: Go to Internet Options
In the Tools menu, click on “Internet Options” to open the Internet Options dialog box. This dialog box contains various settings for your Internet Explorer browser.
Step 3: Navigate to the Security Tab
In the Internet Options dialog box, click on the “Security” tab. This tab contains settings related to the security level of your browser.
Step 4: Select the Website
In the Security tab, click on the “Trusted sites” icon on the left-hand side. Then, click on the “Sites” button to open the Trusted sites dialog box.
Step 5: Add the Website to the Trusted Sites Zone
In the Trusted sites dialog box, you will see a list of websites that are already trusted. To add a website to the trusted sites zone, click on the “Add” button and enter the URL of the website you want to add. Make sure to include the full URL, including the “http://” or “https://” prefix.
Step 6: Enable ActiveX Controls
After adding the website to the trusted sites zone, click on the “Custom Level” button to open the Security Settings dialog box. Scroll down and find the “ActiveX controls and plug-ins” section. Look for the “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” option and select “Enable” from the dropdown menu.
Step 7: Apply and Close
Click on the “OK” button to apply the changes. You will be prompted to confirm the changes by clicking “Yes” in the Security Settings dialog box. Then, click “OK” in the Trusted sites dialog box and finally, click “OK” in the Internet Options dialog box.
Step 8: Refresh the Website
Now that you have enabled ActiveX controls for the website, you can refresh the webpage to see the ActiveX content. Simply click the refresh button in your browser or press the F5 key.
By following these steps, you can easily activate ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer for specific websites. Remember to only enable ActiveX controls for trusted sites to ensure your online security.
